I found this rather battered '67 paperback in Nashua's Four Hills recycle center swap shop. The cover says it's the complete, unexpurgated translation by Richard Aldington; I don't know if that's the same version I tried to read a few years back but I admit that I couldn't quite get into it. The setting's dramatic enough for anyone - people fleeing the Black Plague and trying to amuse themselves while shut away from contagion by telling stories - but I appreciated some of the tales more when I found them as excerpts in other anthologies rather than en masse.
