Love in the Time of Cholera
3 journalers for this copy...
haven't read yet
I was lucky enough to pick this up at last night's meet-up thanks to ams11810. It was on my wish list and after I finish it LisaChuckwood wants the next chance at it.
Great meet-up last night, hopefully we will all get to know each other better over the meet-ups to come...they are getting so big, it's hard to have a chance to talk to everyone.

Oops! Looks like this had release notes made on it after I picked it up at the meet-up and then made a journal entry for it.
This is an incredibly dense and almost overwhelmingly detailed narrative, absolutely not a light read. Set in Colombia 100 years ago, it's a story spanning more than 50 years, focusing on several characters and many types of love including pratical, obsessive, innocent, selfish, etc. It is like reading a tapestry of words.
Would someone please tell me what the death of Jeremiah de Saint-Amour at the beginning of the book had to do with the story? And what was in the letter that he left for Dr. Urbino that disturbed him so much? I missed the significance of these two things, if there was any.
This book is going to LisaChuckwood at the March meet-up in Toronto.

Last minute change of plans. LisaChuckwood won't be able to make it tonight but she said I was free to release Cholera (hahaha) at the meet-up. Hopefully she will catch up to it in the near future.

Penhaligon kindly offered me this book as we were chatting before tonight's meetup. I recently read One Hundred Years of Solitude, so this will be an interesting follow up.
Lisachuckwood will get this one eventually.
