The Light of Day

This wonderful book about adultery and its consequences deservedly won a Booker Prize. The writing manages to be both gripping and luminous, and its a very haunting story.
Viola7 gave it such a glowing reference I couldn't resist this book. I have loved some prize-winning books and been bored to tears by others, but always willing to try. Thanks for sharing.
I'm torn here - I liked the story, I liked the indepth look at the emotional lives of all the characters, I often enjoyed his turn of phrase. However, I found the scattered approach somewhat infuriating. From one sentence to the next we could jump from one character to another and anywhere from 5 minutes to several decades in time, backward or forward... Felt like he was trying a bit too hard at times. But I still didn't want to give up...

Received as part of the 'crazy'RABCK organised by michyj. Thank you for your generosity, erino4503. I'm also impressed by the mention of 'Booker' on the front cover, the reviews down lower, and the fact it's well-travelled around Brisbane. I'm looking forward to getting into it.
