We took this book with us when we took the Ballyconnell/ Ballinamore canal along the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic. The little kingfisher with the brilliant blue back and the copper underparts lead us along the canal, keeping ahead of the boat. Our timing had us in the midst of Hurricaine Floyd as it hit Ireland after traveling across from America. The wild swans landing on the lakes head on into the wind and rain were a magical sight.
