The tale of two sisters (Dinah and Lisa) growing up in South Africa in the 1950s - a time when the aparteid was becoming very rigid. The family is a rather liberal one and the confusion and innocence about racial issues for Dinah (our protagonist) are fascinating and on some occasions, profound. A wonderful novel that takes place during a horrible time in history.
