Arrived safely this morning, with perfect timing as I was just reading the last page of my current book :-) I shall get on to this one later today
I was quite disappointed with this book. It started off well, a good murder mystery, I was excited to see what would unfold... I kept waiting for the book to get exciting or suspenseful but it never happened. I didn't feel attached to any of the characters.
Thanks for letting me read this any way.
Just waiting for the next person's address
Book arrived safely this morning. Thanks for sending it on, Vespa. I am not sure now, after reading your comments, but I will give it a go anyway. I have another bookring waiting though, so it will be a couple of weeks with me I'm afraid.
I enjoyed reading this book although I think I expected a little more of it. Thanks for the read, and I hope that it will be enjoyed many more times.
This book is now on its way to Cross-patch.
Arrived today. Thank you Inver and bonnie0907. I''m a sucker for rural America with period!
I enjoyed the way the different threads gradually pulled together. Aunt Mandy had complicated relationships with everyone, but held very strong family loyalties. The homespun qualities were very comforting and I just generally liked it all. What next? Maybe a RABCK?

This book arrived from the U.K. today after having been mailed I understand, at the end of May. Long journey! I am putting it in my TBR pile. I am taking all of my Bookcrossing books with me on vacation and I am determined to read or attempt them all, and release them at the resort. I bet lots of people would love to find an interesting book to read while on vacation and there will be people there from around the world. I hope those people will take the books home with them and release them there after they have enjoyed them. After reading, I will journal again before releasing them.
P.S. This book has the most interesting and varied history of any Bookcrossing book that I have ever caught.
Wow! I really liked this book - kept me reading and reading....very interesting and suspenseful.

Drowning Ruth is in Finland already! So fast! Thanks a lot michellereads2!! It will go with me to Prague soon...
Drowning Ruth was a great read - somehow not at all what I expected, but so creepy and catchy that it was hard to put it down. Layers in story, layers in time, layers on characters... And I especially like books which keep on suprising me, as this did.
Thank you very much or the book michellereads2, a special bookfriend with whom my books keep crossing!
Drowning Ruth is already on the hands of the next reader...

This was a catchy book, in a dark and brooding way. Shows the twisted psychological underbelly of the American midwest at its best and worst. Oppressive small-town and old-fashioned social culture mixed with strong family loyalty breeds a bizarre combination of a psychological thriller and a provincial prose poem, with cleanly crafted imagery and powerful characters.
My only complaint is that the plot was so layered and rich at the start, but seemed to get lost a bit somewhere as it rolled along. As I finished it I had the feeling that the author lost energy and was just trying to come round to the punch somehow, without filling in the juicy bits the same way as in the beginning. Somehow it took a bit too long to get there. Strange. But anyway a compelling read, if ultimately a bit bleak, and weak, in the end.
Powerful and real women were the story's main strengths, and a surprising weave of plot through most of it.
