Very much enjoyed it and liked the fact that the ending was left so open. Kazuo Ishiguro writes very subtly - much suited to describing the Japanese characters in the story.

I'm not really sure what I thought of the book. It left me feeling like it was a bit unfinished in some way. I'd like to know more about why Etsuko left japan, and how she came to be in England. However, I did think it was well written, and I enjoyed reading it.
I haev sent it off to Dad as he's an Ishiguro fan.

I was sent it by my daughter (Bean-Frog). As her entry says, I am quite a fan of Ishiguro-san. I enjoy the quiet and subtle way that he injects surrealism into his novels, turning them from mild narrative to dark intrigue with the twist of a few words. I can't say that I understand this one fully - it seems to be a mixing of several realities, but where is the truth? Thoroughly enjoyable, and to be read again some time.

Not sure where it will go next.
