The House on Mango Street

Very short chapters. No quotation marks which I hate in a book. It's hard to tell whether they're just thinking this thought or actually saying it. It's about a hispanic girl growing up in Chicago.
I just received this from SalDragski thanks. TBR.
I agree with Saldragski this book needs quotation marks. It was a very confusing read that seemed to have no direction whatsoever.

I received this book from froggiepopple (MN)and look forward to reading it. Thanks!
This book is a very quick read. It's almost like a group of loosely connected essays that tell a story when you look at it as a whole. The language is colorful and does evoke a community that one can imagine.
I'm now passing this book on via mail to Lindlec in Nottingham.

Just found this book in my mailbox, it traveled all the way from England to Nebraska. Thanks Linlec for sending this in a controlled-release trade! I promise to read, journal and then find another reader, so it can continue on it's travels.
Beautifully written, spare, poetic straight-from-the-heart thoughts of a young girl who seeks her place in life and knows it is not the place she resides in now........The House On Mango Street. I loved this book......my heart ached for Esperanza, who sees her world as one she must escape in order to live the life she wants. I found the book to be deeply moving and emotionally involving. This is a very quick and easy book to read.......written in a style that is unique - very different from any other book I have read. Highly recommended.
