Biblical Fiction - Good book!

Blurb:
Song of Abraham unfolds the tumultuous saga of one man who became a nation. Abraham, the prince of Ur, left behind the greatest civilization of his day to follow words of promise with deeds of faith. Across the hostile desert, through the Baal-worshiping lands of Damascus, past the infamous dens of Sodom and Gomorrah, and into the very heart of the Pharaoh's Egypt, Abraham carved a lasting path over an ancient land, a path which you still see in today's Middle East headlines.

This richly colorful novel portrays a man of strength, will, and purpose who remains unparalleled in history. Few books could hope to have as grand a subject -- and few books will ever be as memorable as Ellen Gunderson Traylor's fascinating reconstruction of the life of Abraham.

Song of Abraham -- an epic story of one man, his family and his faith. A story as important today and tomorrow as it has been for 4000 years.

Journal Entry 3 by fairfaxgirl from Fairfax, Virginia USA on Tuesday, March 7, 2006
I received this book in the mail today in trade from tkdtina, and I'm very excited to have it! Last year I read Noah by the same author and loved it, so I'm eager to read this story of Abraham. Thank you, tkdtina, for the trade!

This had been sitting on my TBR shelf for much too long so I finally pulled it off and read it. I'm working my way through the OT again this year and only recently reread the Biblical account of Abraham, so the timing was good. Traylor weaves an interesting story about Abraham, one of the Bible's most beloved characters, and makes him seem very real. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in the 'father of nations' and the culture of his time. This is going to bkitten in NC.

Given to me by my friend, fairfaxgirl. It made the account in the Bible much more real. I was eager to see how it played out in the novel. Thank you fairfaxgirl, for sharing.
