The sequel to Her Majesty's Wizard. Matt's engagement to Queen Alisande is no closer to an actual marriage than it was a year ago. In frustration, Matt swears he'll conquer a kingdom if that's what it takes to win his love. But as soon as the words are out of his mouth, he remembers that in this land, an oath like that is taken very seriously indeed. So Matt sets off for the neighboring kingdom of Ibile, where an evil sorcerer-king has nearly ruined his land and his people.

A nice follow up to the first book, bringing back all the favorite characters. Also, the book answers a lot of the issues raised in the first book.
