What does the back of the book say?
July 1209: in Carccassonne a seventeen-year-old girl is given a mysterious book by her father which he claims contains the secret of the true Grail. Although Alaïs cannot understand the strange words and symbols hidden within, she knows that her destiny lies in keeping the secret of the labyrinth safe...

July 2005: Alice Tanner discovers two skeletons in a forgotten cave in the french Pyrenees. Puzzled by the labyrinth symbol carved into the rock, she realises she's disturbed something that was meant to remain hidden. Somehow, a link to a horrific past - her past - has been revealed."

I'm really excited about reading this one, these themes obviously keep intriguing me (and of course I couldn't resist this line by "Guardian" stating Kate Mosse's Labyrinth to be "the thinking woman's summer reading" LOL)
I'll be back with comments after reading the book.

Somehow I never was carried away fully while reading this as a suspense story, the plot felt a little constructed and didn't convince me. However I did enjoy the book for its historical sides, and in my opinion Kate Mosse has done a great job making this exciting region and and its enigmatic past coming to life.

In my mailbox today! Thank you so much for this RABCK nille311 and also for the beautiful postcard. It may take a while before I can start reading it (rings, rays etc.), but I will come back here to tell you what my opinion and rating was. Then of course, it will continue its travels somehow.

After it had been on MTBR for more than 8 months, I finaly started reading this yesterday! I never got around to pick it up earlier, mostly because of its length of almost 700 pages, as normally I prefer shorter novels; most of the time I get bored halfway if the story keeps going on and on forever. Another reason was, that I heard and read more negative than positive reviews which was not very encouraging either. I was afraid it would disappoint me too. Well, I won't know until I finished it, will I? I have read about 1/4 and sofar I like it.
Will get back here when finished.

Took it with me to read, when visiting my daughter in Holland last week. Although I had rather liked the first quarter or so, about half way through, I started to get bored and my mind started wondering. My daughter (non BC-er) was hoping I'd finish it and leave it with her when going home, as she was pretty interested. That's what I did after having skimmed the second half and the last couple of pages.

Will continue its travels after it comes back home.

It was nice to read about Carcassonne, Montsegur and Chartres, as I have visited those places, but I did not really like the book after all.

I will take this book with me to South Africa when I leave on the 9th. If we can arrange a meet-up, it will be handed over in person to moonblue from Grahamstown. She choose it from my availables, but was afraid it would be to heavy, so she gave me a few other titles as well for me to choose from. It will be a surprise that I brought it after all. If we cannot meet, I will send it to her by mail when there.

Enjoy!

This looks really interesting although the size is a bit daunting. I have read some good reviews on it so am looking forward to reading it.

And thanks bestfriends for the gorgeous bookmarks - I didn't even notice them when we met.

moonblue - wearing blue again :)
