My Thoughts:
Picked up for release purposes.
From The Publisher:
Michael Dorris has crafted a fierce saga of three generations of Indian women, beset by hardships and torn by angry secrets, yet inextricably joined by the bonds of kinship. Starting in the present day and moving backward, the novel is told in the voices of the three women: fifteen-year-old part-black Rayona; her American Indian mother, Christine, consumed by tenderness and resentment toward those she loves; and the fierce and mysterious Ida, mother and grandmother whose haunting secrets, betrayals, and dreams echo through the years, braiding together the strands of the shared past.

**reserved for nimrodiel as the winner of the 2006 Happy Birthday BookCrossing! contest - US Package #1**
This made it here a couple of days ago, and in the shuffle of books (A few books for reviewing showed up that day as well), it got shelved in the tbr pile before I could journal it as arrived. I'm looking forwards to reading this as soon as I get the required reading out of the way.
This was an extremly moving story spanning three generations.
I loved how it brought us the reader through so much family history, and showed us how one action affected everyone else. I also enjoyed that each of the three people telling their part of the story narrated their story.

Book came in todays mail, thanks. It's so much nicer receiving books vs getting bills in the mail!
In an effort to reduce the amount of books now lining every available space in our "book depository" (i.e. spare room) I'm moving this to my available shelf ... okay so it's just shuffling but this way if someone sees it they may want to read it! Heavens knows when I will get around to it!

Caught at our area OBCZ. Was waiting to get acquainted with OneMorePage at a meet-up. LGinder came in & introduced herself. Those two are friends, so the were both coming to check out the Zone today. I caught this from LGinder, opened it up to see who had registered it, and read aloud "polliwog". OneMorePage immediately exclaimed "polliwog - I know her - we've shared books!" So, once again, the principle of 5 degrees of separation of far-flung people in this vast country of ours is proven to be true.
Oh, wow! Great book!!
