Certainly one of the best books that I've ever read...
Time for me to admit something that I don't normally let get out: I'm not one to search for deeper meaning in anything that I read... I read for pure entertainment. The Giver, however, would not allow me to read so casually... I was kicked in the gut a few times while reading this book, forcing me to examine things in my own life and my own behaviors as an educator.
