I've had a copy of this on Mt Toobie for nearly two years now, so this copy is for immediate crossing! I just checked out the entry I made for the previous copy; it obviously doesn't apply to this one, but I thought I'd repeat it here anyway.
"I've heard people talk of this book in glowing terms. So despite it being labelled 'winner of the booker prize' - normally the sort of self-congratulation that makes me run a mile - I picked it up in a charity shop. What stopped me putting it down wasn't anything to do with the book as such, but the inscription on the inside front cover: "Happy Christmas and Happy Millenium to my very dearest Andy from Val". I hope Val is happy, wherever she(he?) is, and is not too disappointed that Andy saw fit to give away this personalised gift. Hopefully Andy and Val are now bookcrossers, and the only regret they have is not having registered this book before they sent it on its way."
