This is a really good book and is the authors first mystery novel.

It's DS Logan McRae's first day back on the job after a year off on the sick, and it couldn't get much worse.

Four year old David Reid's body is discovered in a ditch, strangled, mutilated and a long time dead, And he's only the first. There's a killer stalking the Granite City and the local media are baying for blood.

Journal Entry 4 by Inver from Aberdeen, Scotland United Kingdom on Saturday, June 17, 2006
This arrived a couple of days ago, but like you Smurphie, so much on was unable to get to the post office to pick it up until today. Thank you for the post card and bookmark. My hubbie says he may well read it if I never get around to it. Thanks for sharing.

Started this 1/7/06, will try and get it read ASAP so I can pass it on to V-o-D at our next meetup this month, but I am reading another bookring at the same time!

It is a bit gruesome, but am enjoying it in a weird sort of way. Wish the weather would improve a bit in it though.

Journal Entry 5 by Inver from Aberdeen, Scotland United Kingdom on Saturday, July 8, 2006
Well finished it today. Reasonably easy read if a bit gruesome!! Have to admit that it is not my normal sort of read but I enjoyed(!) it. I don't usually read crime novels but the fact that it was in and around Aberdeen made it fun(!) Hoping that not too many of these type of crimes actually happen here!!!! It did keep my interest and had to read it to the end to find out who did it as it were. May even be persuaded to read his next one. Thanks for the chance to read it Smurphie. Passing on to hubby to read before passing on to V-o-D at next meetup (20/7/06)

Hubby read this book in a day!!!! He sniggered his way through the desciptions of places and people. We browsed our Aberdeen map too to find places we weren't sure about. Added to the fun!! He enjoyed(!) it as much as I did. Will look out for his next book.
