For the most part, this book was a fun read. It had interesting characters and definitely took your typical independent-reader-magic-using-character and offered a fresh new spin. I read through it really quickly, but I found that sometimes it tried too hard to be different. I'm not sure that I'll read any other books, should they get published, but I wouldn't run into the bookstore and have a tantrum any time someone picked up a copy.
