Haunted Heritage : A Definitive Collection of North American Ghost Stories (Haun

Ghostly collections.
After I read it goes to k00kaburra in exchange (2nd book) for Managing Ignatious.
Awesome! Gotta love those ghost stories :)
Man, I am such a pussy.
I cannot read this collection - or any collection of ghost stories, actually - after dark or else it will be all that I can think about. Frights will exist just over my shoulder, and glowing red eyes will stare at the back of my head. I will be in bed, lying on my side, terrified to roll over because a horriible spectre will be waiting, hooded in a long dark robe, waiting.
Even a benevelont ghost - several of which are described in this book - would freak me out too much. One of my sole comforts has always been that spooks only reside in old houses - and while that seems to mostly hold true, at least one of the stories here occured in a new house with no previous inhabitants to 'screw' things up. So my house is no longer safe from hauntings. Eep.
Of all the stories contained in this book, there was only one that I had heard/read before - the tale of Colleen Buterbaugh, who stepped into a classroom at the university she worked at and was transported back in time for about thirty seconds. The version I had heard previously did not go into as great a detail as the version here, so it was quite a pleasure to find out more.
None of the tales contained here are too frightening - at least not in the violence and gore. No blood pours out of the walls or anything like that. But mysterious footsteps, raps and taps on the walls, unexplainable sounds in the night - if these suit your fancy, pull up a chair, crack open the book, and shiver along for the ride.
Me, I have a blanket to hide under in terror of a hyperactive imagination.
