An interesting story about the hard childhood of a cotton mill workers son from Lancashire. Not one of those moaning stories either!
It creates a vivid image of how things were circa 1930 in the north of Englands mill towns, what time everyone got up, what they had for lunch, what they did at the weekend, etc., all wrapped around the story of his childhood memories.
Looking forward to reading the sequel.
