This is the 4th book in MJD's Undead series (not counting her two short stories in the Bite and Cravings anthologies).

I'm looking forward to reading this one right after Undead and Unappreciated, which is waiting near the top of my Mt. TBR too. :)

Book Description
This is how my tombstone read:
Elizabeth Anne Taylor
April 25, 1974 - April 25, 2004
Our sweetheart, only resting

Only, I wasn't resting under it. I had, of course, died in the spring. Rose in the early dawn hours the day of my funeral and gone on undead walkabout. Since my body was MIA, the funeral was canceled. But my mother, who had been in a huge fight with my dad and stepmom about what to spend on my marble tombstone, had rushed to order the thing. By the time it was finished, no funeral, no service, no burial. So anyway, my tombstone had been in storage for the last six months.

After a while, the funeral home had politely contacted my mother and asked what she'd like to do with it. Since Mom had the plot and stone paid for, she had them stick it in the dirt two days ago and then mentioned it at lunch yesterday.

Jessica and Laura had been morbidly curious to see it, and I'd tagged along. What the hell, it made for a break from wedding arrangements and Christmas cards...

So begins the newest hilarious adventure in the life of Betsy Taylor, reluctant Queen of the Vampires. It's Christmastime in the kingdom of the undead (otherwise known as Minneapolis), which is as complicated as it sounds. Betsy isn't going to let a little thing like death and blood-drinking stop her from enjoying the holidays or planning her upcoming spring wedding to drop-dead gorgeous vamp Eric Sinclair.

But all is not merry and bright&mdmash;Betsy is plagued by ghosts who demand her help in rectifying their past mistakes, and a serial killer is on the loose. With his victims all being tall, blond women, Betsy fits the profile exactly...

With warmth, style, and laugh-out-loud humor, MaryJanice Davidson shows why readers everywhere love Betsy Taylor and have turned her adventures into a bestselling phenomenon.

I'm gonna lend this to NeedSun after I've read it, and then return it to the PaperBackSwap system. Terra57 has expressed an interest in reading this as well.

I didn't think this book was quite as good as the previous one, Undead and Unappreciated. I also found a few editing mistakes which forced me to go back and reread things a couple times so I could figure out what MJD really meant. Like one time she referred to something that Laura supposedly said, but it totally didn't make sense, so after I reread it, I realized it was the ghost Cathie who probably said that. A few other instances of transposed words, or something running on so I had to reread. And I bring it up only because I didn't see this kind of thing in any of her previous stuff I've read. All that aside, I was beginning to appreciate how books 2 and 3 had a lot more story to them, and instead, this book seemed more fluff, kinda like the first one. It was still funny... not hilarous, but a quick read that had me chuckling none the less.

This is now reserved for NeedSun, and I'll be hand delivering it to her in a mere 17 days when I head to Toronto for the BC convention. Woohoo!! Terra57 has also asked for this book after, so Jo, you can either organize a ring for it if you want, and include her, or simply send it on to Terra57 when you're done. Totally up to you chickie!! :)

Cherie handed this book to me at the 2006 Toronto Bookcrossing Convention. I can't wait to read more about that most annoying and reluctant vampire queen. This and the one before are going to get squished in between some bookring books that I have to read... shush..don't tell!

Thank you Cherie, for sharing this one and Undead and Unappreciated.

Well, as per my last journal entry, I didn't squeeze these two books in. They were both such fast reads that I really should have.

Cherie, I found exactly the same thing that you did about the editing mistakes. By the end, I wondered if I was really missing something....maybe it was me being too tired.

Bre would like to read this one too then off to Terra57.

Thanks again for these two delightful little books

Spoiler follows.....

I never saw the date change for their wedding which was finally set for September 17...then it was Christmas. In fact, they talked about NOT postponing again. Hopefully, the next book will be a bit better and tie up some very very loose ends.

This came back home to me today. I was expecting it to go on to Terra57 next, but perhaps she's already read a borrowed or library copy? (This title doesn't appear on her bookshelf.) So I'm waiting to hear back from either her or Joanne about the status on that. Otherwise, my friend Amy, whom I managed to turn into a PBSer, but not yet a BookCrosser, wants this one too. So we'll wait and see who's gonna get it next...

Drat! I can't recall where this went to. I think it ended up going to Amy, which would make sense since she never journals and is not a BookCrosser (no matter how hard I've pushed). :D

That doesn't mean she may not still pass this on so it may still get journaled somewhere else sometime down the road...
