I enjoyed reading this book. A fun mystery -- and I learn a little bit about glassmaking.

I caught SHATTERED, by Dick Francis, at Starbucks while getting a grande shaken iced tea. It was great to find a Dick Francis mystery I hadn't read, the Bookcrossing label was intriguing - and it said "Free," which is always a plus when it comes to books! As usual, Dick Francis always writes books having to do with horseracing in some way. In this particular book, the main character, Gerard Logan, is a glassblower who has a jockey for a best friend. I am quite interested in glassblowing, in particular in lampwork beads, so the combination of horses and glasswork was doubly fun for me. The plot was fast, the characters well-drawn, and I deduced only part of the mystery, which left me guessing up until the last. After my husband reads it, we will return it to Starbucks, where it can continue traveling and delighting others.

I had never heard of Bookcrossing until finding this book, but from now on will be on the lookout for more books to catch, register, and release. After visiting the Bookcrossings website and joining, I am eager to begin releasing books of my own for others to enjoy. The whole concept is just plain FUN!
