This was an interesting tale, very innovative, and I'm glad I read it. I really enjoyed reading it up til the end. Not that the end was bad, but it was a bit disappointing. I loved the fantasy aspect of it and the incorporation of it into the story. There are some funny moments, sad moments, and make-you-think moments. I thought Tita was a great character, and I did like Pedro alright until about halfway through the book, then he got annoying. The last chapter was a little bit of a surprise and that's the part I didn't care for that much, I wish it had gone another way. I know this is supposed to be a love story, maybe I'm just not enough of a romantic to completely like the way it ended (not the end end, that was fitting for the book, but about halfway through the chapter), although my bookshelf begs to differ. :P I still did thoroughly enjoy reading this book (except reading about preparations of meat dishes, eww!), it was like entering an alternate reality, and I'll definitely check out the movie and more of Ms. Esquivel's books.
Received today. Thanks...
Now, should I read the book first, or watch the movie first?
