Sounds intriguing, I've never read anything by this author before so I'm looking forward to this brief intro. Then if it's good I'll make it into a bookray since this book is nice and light and thin (ideal for international rays!)

I really enjoyed this, several excellent funny stories as well as some macabre ones. I've lent this to some friends who don't read very much, hopefully they will enjoy it. :-)

Now that this book has returned from visiting my friends, I've decided to offer it up for an international bookray. I'm also going to add an option feature to this ray - add a postcard to the package that is either snob-related or from where you live, and write a little note with your thought on the book and your BC username. Then maybe someone along the way can take a photo of the postcards or your can add one yourself to your journal entry! :-)

Here is a link to the forum entry on this book.

The mass of this book including bubble wrap is only 57 g (2.2 oz) and it is thin enough to send as a letter. As an example of postage costs, this will cost (to send anywhere in the world, you may want to double check my calculations!):

  • ~70p from the UK
  • ~$3.50Can
  • ~$2.50US
  • ~$3.60AUS

If you want to keep mailing costs down and only mail within your country or region I'll accomodate as best I can! :-) Please indicate whether you are willing to mail internationally or which countries you would like to restrict it to.

Bookray List:

  • username country, will ship to ?<-- your name here! :-)
  • who will be next! :-)

Well, no bites on the bookray idea, so I'm just going to release this into the wild sometime soon. :-)

Yay! I finally got it to work! Goodness knows why it didn't before. Anyway , I'd read this before, as it's all taken from the Complete Short Stories - but what a treat to read that first story again. It reminded me a lot of Katharine Mansfield's stories - particularly 'In a German Pension'. I might have to get those out again now. All that wry, intelligent observation....wonderful.

Released 18 yrs ago (10/22/2005 UTC) at Fopp Cafe, off Market Street in Manchester, Greater Manchester United Kingdom

I picked this up at one of the October bookcrossing meetups in Manchester. I like Muriel Spark's writing style and have read a couple of books by her before. Her character's seem very real with interesting quirks. I enjoyed these 5 short stories.
