and I thought I liked Everything Is Illuminated! I'm only halfway through, but ELAIC is remarkable. Young Oskar describes sadness as "heavy boots." He wishes matches were longer, and has a long discussion about it with his Grandma. He makes a bracelet for his mom with his dad's last message coded in Morse with beads. It's amazingly inventive. Must keep.
