Marching to a Different Tune: Diary About an ADHD Boy

Stefan has ADHD and is ten at the start of this diary, and his mother writes about four years in his life, recounting all the dreadful things that her son gets up to as a result of his condition. Having a son with ADD myself i found myself identifying with a lot of the behaviours that Stefan showed, but i didn't think this book was very well written. ADD is a serious condition that can cause misery, stress and frustration both to the sufferer and those around them, and I just felt that all those emotions were glossed over here - although at times you could tell that actually life was no laughing matter, the book is simplisctic and the overuse of exclamation marks makes it appear like Stefan's behaviour amused his parents rather than frustrated them. There is very little analysis of why he may behave the way he does, or consideration of ways to handle and manage his behaviour. if this had gone deeper into the condition it would have been a far more useful and effective read.
