Dry: A Memoir

Burroughs' account of his detox and alcohol rehab. He's a wonderful writer with perverse insights and a knack for morbidly nailing the right group of words together to make a point. This memoir is not a comedy. It has some really funny stuff in it but just a warning for those who read Running with Scissors or Magical Thinking first, this is not light like those other two memoirs. I really enjoyed his writing, but this was more somber and important.

I found this book in a box of old posters in the University of Connecticut Avery Point student union while waiting for my fiance to finish class. I started reading it immediately and I am already in love with it. I knew of Augusten Burroughs from the film version of "Running With Scissors" and his humor is in the beginning parts that I have read and I can't wait to finish it. I will write another journal after I have finished the memoir.
