I am a great fan of Du Maurier's work, and she does not disappoint in this novel. The following is the blurb:

This makes it sound like a taudry Mills and Boon novel, but it really is very good. Adventure, romance, a flawed heroine and a social commentary... Frenchman's Creek is a wonderful read!
