1 journaler for this copy...
This has been on my wishlist for ages. Purchased a copy in the secondhand bookstore in Christchurch during the convention. I look forward to reading it.

I have just released this and discovered that I never journalled the reading of the novel. I read it ages ago and thought the story interesting although not as good as had been promoted through bookcrossing. It is the story of a family living in poverty in early 20th century New York. There is the wastral singing father who works little and drinks a lot, the hard working mother who cleans for a living and the two children Neelie and the main character Francie- who is ambitious and climbs out of poverty through education.
