A wonderfully, immersive world of bardic magic. Part of the "romantic fantasy" sub-genre perpetuated by writers like Mercedes Lackey. This book, in my opinion, is better than Ms. Huff's vampire novels. The characters are wonderful, the world is rich and beautiful, and the plot worth reading. Recommended even for those who don't normally read fantasy.
