The only part of this book that makes it horror is the thought that there are publishing companies that will publish anything. I got this book because I do honestly like books where people can kill with their minds. This book, I guess, is the expeption. Along with my many complaints for this book, (bad dialogue, half assed plot, unnesesary amounts of background, utterly stupid ending)I would like to point out that this is by far the worst omniscient story telling ever. First, the author reveals what everyone is thinking dispite the fact that s/he has no understanding of human thoughts and feelings. This makes every character a flat steriotype with no room for personal growth. Second, these thoughts merely take up space in the book. They don't add anything to the plot and in most cases they are nuisance.

I will end off this book-bashing on the note of pho-science. If you are going to describe in detail a bit of pho-science you should have a) taken grade 10 science and b) passed grade 3 math. "dividing and multiplying"? neural pathways won't do that. And to I really need to say anything about "dormant cells being energized"? No. That says it all.

This looks like it might just be the worst book ever written.

I don't really want to admit it, but I kind of got into this book by the end. Yes, the first two pages made me want to drag the author back to junior high and make her take science again - but *how* the protagonist got the crazy mind powers doesn't really have anything to do with the story. It was actually kind of neat to read a book where the government or whoever wasn't coming after the good-hearted child with insanely deadly mind powers to cut the kid into little pieces. And I'd have to say that this is definitely a book for people who like happy endings and have something against wife beaters (but don't mind reading about them again and again). And I'm sure that there is a nice chunk of people who fit into that category - with any luck the next person to read this book will belong in just that category.
