Dimitris and Damocles are in love. The trouble is, they're in love with the same woman--the deliciously fruity Nana. She's a pretty special lady, what with her iridescent crimson toenail (yes, just the one) and high-heeled, peep-toe mules decorated with black tassels and tiny ostrich feathers. Irresistible.

The only answer is a duel; as Nana is a slave to her taste buds, it's to cookery that the cuckolded lovers turn. The dishes they tempt her with are fabulously far-fetched--sea urchin corals drowning in a spoonful of Aegean water, stuffed vine leaves à la Gialantzi, Constantinople artichokes. Plus there's plenty of sauce--lemon-squeezing sessions in the kitchen, with only a chef's hat and an apron for garnish.

Mouthwateringly measured, Les Liaisons Culinaires bubbles between morsels towards a grand finale of just desserts. It's delectably hedonistic, punctuated by traditional Greek recipes and illustrations by Jeff Fisher, and told with a light, tantalising touch. If all this talk of lavish gastronomy isn't getting the juices going, there's an erotic charge that won't fail to whet the appetite. Now where's that lemon.

Arrived in today's mail -- looks like a lot of fun!

I'm always interested in international and ethnic cuisine, so the recipes are a big bonus. (What are "courgettes", though?)

Finished this frothy delight in two sittings! The plot is kind of thin, serving only to tie the delectable recipes together. I had to keep going back to the beginning to figure out which guy's personality corresponded to Dimitris and which to Damocles.

The fellows were right about women not liking offal! I agree with Nana about that Easter Soup made with sheep innards.

The potatoes that were better than a hundred kisses were the best-sounding food either of the guys cooked. (I'll have to figure out how to make them without the lamb shank included in the recipe, though. Maybe -- Lipton Onion Soup Mix? A gourmet, I'm obviously not!)

The very last recipe provided a second surprise ending for non-Greek readers!

I'm going to copy down all of the recipes for meatballs, my favorite "entree", and then make this book available.

Just one final cooking question to research -- what is minced meat as opposed to ground meat?

Just from reading the first few lines, I know I'll be enjoying this book immensely!
I can also think of a number of pals who will enjoy it, too, when I'm finished.

Thank you!

I wanted to like this one, but seeing as I don't eat meat and don't generally enjoy stories of infidelity, I found myself wanting to either read more details of sexual exploits or throttle the characters.

Never did read about the nakey bits and the lemon. Hm.
