May read this one, though sci fi fantasy isn't my usual.. Am intrigued by the references to Ancient Greek myth however... a cross reference in my mind to a rather fine book I just finished ( from the Library) called the Kindly Ones, a retelling of the Oresteia in Victorian times..
I will probably mail this book, Ilium, as a thank you to a friend who put me up at her house recently, whose preferred genre is fantasy

I love Dan Simmons. He has written some wicked Sci-Fi and Horror. Although I was unsure about this book since it is based on the themes of Homer's Iliad, which did not appeal to me but I thought I would try it anyway. I bought this book in Nambour Book Exchange. The owner of the store had tried to remove the book crossing sticker from the inner cover of the book. It did not work! The next thing he did was use a tippex pen (white out) to hide the BCID Number. Bastard! So now a year later, I was digging in my box of books and found the book again and decided to try to scratch the tippex off the BCID with a pair of scissors. It worked, so here I am on BookCrossing. I moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands so the book is here with me at the moment.
Well, how wonderful to know that a book is alive and well on its international journey! Boo to the evil bookseller.. and I hope you thoroughly enjoy your read, James! I haven't released book in a few years, as they seemed to disappear without trace... you have inspired me again.. though now I am based in Indonesia, English books are even more of a treasure.
