It was difficult to categorize this book because it could be included under many of the categories. The story is woven around the native Creation Story. The characters of the Creation Story are represented by 3 old men that have escaped from a nursing home to try to help a group of present day Canadian native people whose lives have been effected in different ways by modern non-native society.

Eighty percent of the book is dialog and is written in an almost script-like format as if you were watching a television show however it doesn't negatively affect the story.

You learn about traditional native spiritual beliefs along with the feelings of suppression and invasiveness that today's native people can experience. I am not native so it is especially interesting to see this point of view.

It is also a good story as each character's story line gradually converges as you get closer to the story's climax.

I was so excited to find this book in the Kitchens & Baths dept. on my very last day of work (the evening of Thur. Mar. 24th)! I'd seen the many release updates for the store, but in all my 6 months working there, I had never come across a single one.

I'm looking forward to reading this novel when teacher's college slows down a little bit :)

Life finally calmed down enough for me to have time to read this book, which is somewhat ironic because part of the novel addresses how our lives keep floating along the river of life and we get all swept up in the small details and caught along the many snags so we often miss what is truly important.

I highly enjoyed the narrative style of this novel -- it was very different and made it a fairly quick and easy read. The humour in the novel is quite clever. Overall, the concepts addressed in this novel are intriguing and make for a very good read.

I'll be releasing this book in the next couple of days, so I'll make a post about the time and location soon.

well, i was at the airport dying for something to read and i was browsing around and saw this lonley book on a countertop at a closed airport bar. i picked it up and thought i might be browsing through someone's book, but i did anyway. i saw this book crossing thing and was completly excited by it.
i have never read any canadian authors and was interested to read this. i found the dialouge style interesting and fun to read. it was a little annoying at first but as i continued to read i found myself more and more absorbed. i really enjoyed the mix of native indian folklore and christianity informing. it is not to often an american christian reads something from another perspective that has not been skewed by our societies mores. i've always enjoyed reading about other religions and traditions. i find the morals educational.
finally i will release the book in new york city at the cloisters, part of the ny met. i plan on doing this in the next serveral weeks. thanks for a great read and for broading my horizons.
