I read this book several years ago, and recall that I was slightly disappointed with it. I was intrigued that it involved a middle age woman whose child suddenly runs off, as I am middle-aged, and relate to the feelings a mother would have in such circumstances. I recall that the writing felt detached to me, as if I expected more visceral emotion from the mother. I think if I read the book again I would understand it more...but for now I'm lending it out. I do hope to get it back though, to perhaps re-read it again sometime.
