P.J.'s life is simple. Wake up at 2:00 p.m. In someone else's place, on someone else's couch. Shower. Clothes. Club. P.J.'s a punter--someone who fills in if a Didn't able to make a gig. San Francisco is a hotbed of glam bands and alternative rock, and P.J.'s into all of it--she's been living the urban Bedouin lifestyle for almost a year now, saving money to create the blow-out, off-the-hook demo of the music she loves, the music for which she deliberately abandoned "normal."

Ever wondered what it would be like to pack it all in and live the carefree life--no 9 to 5, no daily grind, no routine, no one to check in with? P.J. knows how it's done. The most important element? Lots of friends, with couches. One night it's Cecil's high-end settee, the next it's Sticky's lumpy sofa. P.J.'s even got smarmy Samantha to make sure there's always a hideaway bed from hell in the wings. But when a reporter infiltrates her life, then acts as if she wants to make it her own, P.J. senses real trouble. Could this spell the end of couch world?

Hurray for me! Yet another cool book won just by entering the Softlips/Red Dress Ink contest!

I don't know where to start.

OK, First the things I didn't like. The story introduces you to the three main characters right away, so that kinda confused me, keeping them straight. I have to try to file that info away under certain names for later, "PJ", "Leslie"..........And there are a few parts when the story in told in the first-person -- (I think that's what it's called). The paragraph will start out as "I........" and I scramble to figure out who is talking. But otherwise,

I think this book is so different from what I expected it to be, basic 'chick lit.' I haven't read any other of this author's work -- maybe her other books are like this too. How bizarro, the life she lives. I could never find that many friends. I liked how the three character's roles touched and supported each other in the story, how they came together. It was suspensefull at first, trying to figure out PJ's past -- it wasn't as dramatic as I expected. And I liked the ending.

I agreee a lot with the first person who had this book. On the back you get the idea that the story is mainly about PJ, but it's actually about three females. It's like that right away so I was confused at first. Once I got the flow of the book, I enjoyed it. It is very different from most "chick lit" books in that it isn't as focused on getting a guy (except mabye one f the characters). It's more about three women at different ages who are looking for something more in their lives.
