Book Description:

Dear Reader,

Life is great for me. I have my chicory coffee, my warm beignets, and my best friend on the cell phone. Once the sun goes down, I am the baddest thing prowling the night: I command the elements, and I know no fear. For centuries, I've protected the innocent and watched over the mankind, making sure they are safe in a world where nothing is ever certain. All I want in return is a hot babe in a red dress, who wants nothing more from me then one night.

Instead, I get a runaway Mardi Gras float that tries to turn me into roadkill and a beautiful woman who saves my life but can't remember where she put my pants. Flamboyant and extravagant, Sunshine Runningwolf should be the perfect woman for me. She wants nothing past tonight, no ties, no long-term commitments.

But every time I look at her, I start yearning for dreams that I buried centuries ago. With her unconventional ways and ability to baffle me, Sunshine is the one person I find myself needing. But for me to love her would mean her death. I am cursed never to know peace or happiness-not so long as my enemy waits in the night to destroy us both.

This series is a little dark, with a heavy romance element. I really like the two I have read so far.

I am going to wait until Taniazed sends out the first one to Kiki66, then I will send this on to Kiki as well. They can travel together from there on.

well well... I found Internet here on the far end of the world in Brittany, France :-))

So I can write at least a journal before I can send the book of again next week...

I kind of liked this one, though the topic itself is quite the same... but I find it amazing how she can change the story to find totally new aspects (or creatures or so...)... I must admit I always like her endings best :-))

will be mailed to Austria soon!

Arrived safely today! I'm reading a BookRay which I will finish tomorrow - hopefully - and then I will throw myself at Sherrilyn Kenyon :-)

I really admire Sherrilyn's fantasy (the story is quite the same but takes a new turn in every book) and humor!!
The nice thing about this book is, that you not only read Talons and Sunshines story, but also a little bit more about Ashs, Zareks, Valerious and the two Were-Hunters Vane and Fang. Of course you see the rest of the "family" again... Nick, Kyrian, Amanda, Julian and Grace...

It will travel together with "Night Pleasures" to the next reader.

A package from Austria was waiting for me when I came home from the university today! ;) Thank you Rianonne for sending the books my way and NeedSun for including me on the rings! I'll start reading this book after I've read the first in the series.

I read this book in two days, when I spent last weekend home without internet, in hopes of curing my addiction...

I think I liked this even more than the first book, which might have been because this time I could concentrate on the story, but I think the biggest reason was all the secondary characters whom Rianonne mentioned in her review. I'm not satisfied with a book that only concentrates on two characters, and the romance between them. Fortunately Sherrilyn Kenyon has created a rich world, with lots of interesting and memorable characters.

It was nice that Talon was an ancient Celt, because one thing that has been bothering me a bit is the Greek-centricity of the Dark Hunter world. I understand that you have to choose a focus, in order not to create a big mess, and if Sherrilyn Kenyon is most interested in Greek mythology, it's only natural to write about it. Still, it seems weird that other cultures would have produced so few Dark Hunters. I'd love to see some Nordic or Mesopotamian gods get some exposure. This is of course my bias, being a Nordic person who studies Assyriology (the study of the history, culture and languages of Ancient Mesopotamia) at the university. ;)

I thought Talon and Sunshine were very sympathetic characters (after I got over Sunshine's clumsiness), and I was glad to notice they weren't copies of the main characters from the previous book. I wasn't even bothered by the abundance of the sex scenes, as they seemed to fit seamlessly into the story. The plot kept me guessing, and I liked the ending. It was great to learn more about Acheron, and the other characters.

I'm looking forward to reading Dance With The Devil, as I loved Zarek in this book. I'll mail Night Embrace to Auglaise on Monday (Nov 14) together with Night Pleasures and Dark Magic.
