I bought this book for 50p in the Marylebone Library book sale. The book is still in good shape, inside the library cover. The book was first brought out in 1996, and this copy dates from 1997.
It tells the tale of a wife who is beaten by her husband, and takes to drink. They still love each other. The tale is skilfully told by Roddy Doyle, keeping to the truth with no holds barred.
