The story of Fauziya Kassindja and her experiences with kakia, the ritual also known as female genital mutilation and also her horrifying sixteen months behind bars in the US Prison System after fleeing to the United States seeking asylum. Her story is interesting, but I got a little bored with it toward the end.

I'm so excited to catch this book. I have been wanting to read more about this subject of "kakia", the ritual known as female genital mutilation. I believe this author or another with similar experiences was on the Oprah show. Marlowe, my dog, and I caught this book under a covered bridge at the beginning of our beautiful morning walk. The weather this morning was warm and sunny, but the water falls were still frozen. We were the only ones on the trail. More people should take advantage of this. I have chased after other books released by Rutland, but not always successful. Readers are getting there before me. Will let you know how I like this book.

I enjoyed this book very much. Also enjoyed catching it. I'm going to give this to a friend as a controlled release. But perhaps we can keep it going."Told in Kassindja's voice, this memoir is also a precious lesson about cultures, women's human rights policy, and perhaps most important, faith in god and humanity."
