Ms. Goldberg fooled me with this one. She purports to write a book about writing, but it breaks down into her fifteen year study of Zen Buddism around page eighty. Bah.

The Zen review: I found this book. I read it. It was about writing. It wasn't about writing.

The non-Zen review: The book offers some interesting parallels between writing and Zen Buddhism. But mostly it's a rather rambling examination of the author's personal journey, particulary her relationship with her Zen teacher. I imagine people familiar with Natalie Goldberg might get more out of it. Mostly, I found it rather dry and I didn't get emotionally invested in it.
