Took awhile to get into this book, but after 40 pages or so I became very interested in Dr. Holmes and which victim he would stalk next. The history of the emerging culture of Chicago in the midst of the World's Fair and the mysterious Dr. Holmes along with the battle of architectural giants was very intrigueing. I learned a lot about how some of the city's beautiful architecture that still stand was developed. The book has made me want to find out more about our beautiful "second city" and the people who had a say in making it the city it is today.
