There's something in this story which made my heart ache almost. The change in the son's life, the change in the country and the change in South Africa are all linked, in my mind, with each other and it is a sad story indeed.

Thank you, perfect-circle, the book reached me today. I, too, have such a fascination for Africa, South Africa in particular, and I look forward to reading this classic.
Must also add that I was excited that this was an older edition. I just love the feel, smell and experience of reading a book printed and published years before I was even born.
