It took me a while to get into this and a few pages in I really thought I was going to hate it but I became hooked!

It's an odd book, completely unbelievable but I think the fundamentals of american media are there - just taken to extremes. Towards the end for example where death row turns into a reality game show is so absurd you could see it happening. For such disturbing subject matter it's quite funny in places, I'd heard a lot of hype about this book because it won a Booker prize and I wonder if that's what left me feeling as though I missed something everyone else saw.

It's hard to say whether or not this is enjoyable, it's certainly compelling, unusual and worth a read.
