Number 11 in the series set in ancient Rome-if you haven't read number 10 the first sentence will tell you something that happened in it.
Falco is loveable in spite of himself, and seems to be moving up in the world-Procurator of the Sacred Poultry no less, though as usual Emperor Vespasian seems to have omitted much of a salary to go with the responsibilities.
A little girl turns up on Falco's doorstep in fear of her family, then she disappears having been voted the new Vestal Virgin. Another body disappears just after a Falco relative trips over it.
Putting in my historical mystery bookbox #2, hope there's a fan amongst you.
