G Is for Gumshoe

Good and bad things seem to be coming in threes for Kinsey Millhone: on her thirty-third birthday she moves back into her renovated apartment, gets hired to find an elderly lady supposedly living in the Mojave Desert by herself, and makes the top of ex-con Tyrone Patty's hit list. It's the last that convinces Kinsey even she can't handle whoever's been hired to whack her, and she gets herself a bodyguard: Robert Dietz, a Porsche-driving P.I. who takes guarding Kinsey's body very seriously. With Dietz watching her for the merest sign of her usual recklessness, Kinsey plunges into her case. And before it's over, she'll unearth the gruesome truth about a long-buried betrayal and, in the process, come fact-to-face with her own mortality. . . .
Another entertaining read! It's a good thing I don't expect anything but entertainment from these books!

I LOVE BookCrossing! This is the greatest bunch of people ever!
Thanks so much, Tribefan, for surprising me with this book. The house is quiet, the hubby is out of town, the cat is sleeping on the bed, and I'm getting ready to curl up with this book for a couple of hours before drifting off to sleep. I really enjoy these Millhone mysteries, and I'm looking forward to reading this one.
I hope to pass this one along to another BC'er once I'm finished.
Thank you!

Another quick-to-read but incredibly engaging mystery from Sue Grafton. Thanks again for this one, Tribefan! Once I get one of these in my hands, I can't put it down until I'm finished. Now on to H!
Kinsey is maturing so much in these novels. It's interesting to read these earlier ones that are set in the pre-cellphone, DVD player, digital camera days. Whenever Kinsey gets into a tight spot, I keep thinking, "Why doesn't she just pick up her cell phone???" Ah well...great stuff.
I hope to pass this one along to someone else who has it on his/her wishlist.

On its way to MysteryMish...enjoy!
Got this as a RABCK from mellion108. Thanks! I am looking forward to reading the series start to finish.
Another good Kinsey Millhone book. These books are consistently enjoyable, and they are what I call good beach reading - entertaining and not too much work. I didn't like the end of this as much as the previous books - I thought it was a bit confusing. Mailing this to Withoutwings as a RABCK. Enjoy!
