Nice looking book! Thanks DIGDI!
I think rankism is an interesting concept. I never really thought of it in terms of being an "ism" before. The book is useful to get people thinking about the abuse of rank, although I can't say I felt particularly galvanized to do anything about it. In think that in our current economy, bosses have a lot of power since there are so many educated people vying for the same jobs and employers can choose people who won't complain about abuse and fire those who do. So it seems to me like at the moment, any change that happens would have to start at the top, not the bottom, and I'm not sure how likely that is. I will definitely think about these ideas though, and make sure that I don't take advantage of any power I may have.
I particularly liked chapter 6, with all the inovators attributing their success to their mistakes. I found that pretty inspirational. Parts of the book were really repetative though, and too much time was spent looking at the current problem and the idyllic final result of a rank revolution, and not enough about the process by which we might get from point A to B. Aye, that's the rub!
