Letters From a Nut

If you've never heard of this book, you're really in for some fun. Essentially, the author wrote letters to real companies (under the pen-name "Ted L. Nancy") asking for the most absurd things. For example, he wrote the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to ask if he could bring his own soda machine during his stay in their hotel. And surprisingly, a lot of companies answered him back! (Just to let you know, the Palace Station said no.) This is definitely a laugh-out-loud book, even bordering crazy-to-the-point-of-disturbing. Case in point: he wrote the Colorado Belle Hotel, asking if the housekeeping staff found "his bag of hair that he left in the hotel room". Definitely good entertainment.

Found at Meetup. I've heard about Mr. Nancy, so I'm expecting a few good laughs from the book.

This is one of the funniest books I have ever read! Some of the letters sent me into laughing fits. It makes me want to start my own letter writing campaign. Thanks Jacky. Hopefully Kat will get to this one soon, and then I can send it on its way.
Very funny had some good laughs with my husband.

Received this today in the mail. I immediately started reading it out loud to my husband, we were in fits of laughter. I will journal more after I finish it (which will be quickly) and pass it on to the next person in the bookring. Thanks Seabass, this is a good pick to share with others!
This was a cute and funny book. I found some of the letters somewhat repetitive but overall enjoyed and laughed my way through it. I think my favorite one is at the end when he writes to the president of Tonga and incorporates the earlier letter about his sword. Oh and the missing tooth is a good one too. This is going to Cestmoi later this week to continue on its bookring journey. Thanks for including me Seabass.
I will be passing this on to cestmoi tomorrow when we get together to feed our book buying addiction. This is the bookring started by seabass.
Looking forward to reading this and sending it on.
Thanks to Seabass for letting me sneak in, and Shelley for carting it for me.

Just sat here reading this - since the last time I journalled I received it, about an hour and a half ago. I am still laughing.
I read some of the letters to my sons and they thought they were "very silly"....good endorsement from a 6 and 8 year old.
Ted Nancy has a great imagination. Working in customer for many years has taught me that truth is often stranger than fiction though - and I'm sure some of these letters would not be far off the mark if we asked to see real ones from some of the hotels he wrote to.
Thanks for sharing this with me and I will get it off to the next bookcrosser asap.

Just got this in the mail, thanks c'est moi.
Overall a very funny read. Just the idea is funny. I agree with Seabass that now I would like to start my own letter writing campaign.
This book was a great distraction during a very difficult few weeks. And even though a couple of the letters were a bit offensive to me, still, it was worth getting through those to be tickled by the rest.

This book reached me yesterday all the way from Canada! =) I've really enjoyed Ted L. Nancy's letters and would wonder what kind of responses I would receive if I tried this! I may have to pick up another copy of this book to release to friends, but this one is bound for Sherman Oaks, CA on Monday! Scout-Finch, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! =)

Very humorous book (it is amazing to me that some people actually had to RESPOND to these letters). Anyway ...
I PMed the next in line. She has not responded (go figure!), so I am jumping ahead. It gets mailed out tomorrow AM. Bon voyage :^)
