This novel examines a woman's relationships with the men and women in her life. Many of the women in the story seem to be against one another, rivaling for the attention of men or possession of the control within the family. The author uses recipes through the chapters, which are divided by months, to symbolize the interworkings of the narrative. While I had issues with the women's conflicting relationships with one another, I still found the novel to be an enjoyable read, and I would, without reservation, suggest to anyone to read.
