This is a great fun book. The blurb on the back is pretty good to, so I'm going to crib.
"Meet Sam Space - the best private eye on this or any other Earth. Trained in seventeen forms of solar combat, he can snap the trunk of a small pine tree with a double reverse dropkick...providing his shoes are on. He broke a toe once trying it barefoot. He's also a sucker for a pretty girl's sob story...even if she does have three heads. After all, numbers don't count - it's what you do with the body beneath. And when the solar system is threatened with final destruction, the body beneath teams up with Sam in an impossible journey to the planets and across time in one of the " (here it degenerates into hype. But it is a good book anyway.)

This has got to be one of the weirdest books I have ever read. It hops about all over the place, there is NEVER a dull moment and its pretty funny too. It is so bad, it has gone all the way around and reached good. It is a very quick book to read too, an afternoon's very pleasant entertainment :o)
Thanks WD for the chance to read it, I'll pass it onto Auglaise as soon as I have her address.

Very cute, funny old sci-fi novel. Thanks for sharing WistfulDragon!!
Received from Auglaise this week - looks like a great read for a Sunday afternoon! Seems to be the end of the ray - what next?
This is a really great book and I love the advertisement for Kent Menthol cigarettes in the middle! It was written in 1971, so the concepts of parallel universes and mice running planets must have been pretty advanced for those days.
I think I'll pass it on to my husband to read next.

Tony read it, but didn't make it to the end. We both think that Douglas Adams must have got inspiration from William Logan.
I have just sent the book to the Classical Society at Royal Holloway College. They were asking for crossed books for students to review. Look forward to seeing what happens next!

This looks really cool.
I picked up the books yesterday and there is already someone who has asked to read this. She is a bit of a sci-fi fan.
Thanks
