I have actually read about 200 pages of this epic travelogue (non consecutively). Some of it I like and some of it I don't. Rebecca West was a gifted writer and was very opinionated about her experiences in Yugoslavia and some of her opinions grate. She also used the book as a commentary on Britain and British culture. She is also described as a feminist in the introduction, but by modern standards I don't think that would be the case.
