You have to understand that I am a Tom Robbins fan from way way back. His language is always a delight, and it's nice to know that the crazy wacko individualist that I remember with such glee from my college days is still riding the wordrails with such joy. It was also nice to visit with my old friend Tanuki (a Japanese badger spirit with unusually large.... well, if you know Tanuki you know to what I'm alluding.) Unfortunately, the plot (which involves Vietnamese MIAs) doesn't hang together for me, and I found this one less enjoyable than other of his books. It could of course be the time of year when I read this, and I may try it again later on in the summer when I'm rested (it has been a LOONG school year!)
Mailed out Monday, July 19th, in a controlled release.
I received this in the mail a while ago and am just now making the entry. I haven't read it yet but I am looking forward to doing so.
I'm not really sure what to think of this book. It was definitely interesting and kept my attention but somehow I wasn't really satisfied at the end. This is the first Tom Robbins book I have read and after just now rereading DrBrown's journal entry I realize that this may not have been the best to start with. So I will give him another try.
