Vampire Chronicles, Book I: Interview with the Vampire

This was the first of Anne Rice's books I ever read, and I really enjoyed this one more than any of the others. It had a quiet subtlety that I did catch, though I'm sure I was too young to have a real appreciation.
Also, while flipping through it, I found a note from my freshman of high school. The captain of our cheerleading squad left me a note asking if I was going to cheer that night, and I responded that I'd been sick the night before (a practice, perhaps?) but that if it was all right, I'd cheer that night. How funny. That was nine years ago.
